Our little girl, Hannah, will be dedicated at our church this next Sunday on Mother's Day. Some of you may not know what a family dedication is. It is a ceremony held for parents that want to make a public commitment to raise their child according to God's commands. It is a statement of intent to pass on your Christian beliefs and values to your child.
This last Sunday, we had to take a class at our church. It was very good. We learned a lot. We are not perfect parents. We make lots of mistakes. We want to do the best job, but most importantly we want our girls to know Jesus and follow Him.
During class, we had to write a family covenant. We've never done this before. I was glad we got to do this. I plan to print this on pretty paper, frame it, and hang it on a wall in our home. Here's what our covenant says:

PFEIFER FAMILY COVENANT
We strive to model our lives after Jesus. We intend to do so by living lives of faith, honesty, trust, patience, love, and affection.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:5-7
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because our anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20

I love the idea of a family covenant!
This is awesome, Nancy! I've never hear of the Family Covenant before...gonna have to copy that our end. It's a good reminder to have & hanging on the wall, will definitely keep us reminded!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
